BCS Summer Reading 2017: Other Summer Resources

Brooklyn Public Library

Summer Reading Activities are happening all summer at branches throughout Brooklyn! Click here to learn about all the great programming opportunities for kids of all ages.

How do I get a library card?

 There are two ways.

  • Fill out a My Library NYC application, have it signed by an adult if you are under 13, and bring it to any Brooklyn Public Library. You must get this application in the BNS/BCS Library, so get here ASAP! This card erases your overdue fines and lets you keep books for as long as you need. No overdue fees!

  • You can also get an application for a regular library card at any branch, at any time, although this card doesn’t have all the perks!

How can I use the Brooklyn Public Library over the summer?

  • Use your library card to take out books from any Brooklyn branch.

  • Reserve books that aren’t available at your branch. You will receive an email when they arrive at your branch. You go pick them up.

  • Borrow ebooks and audiobooks to read on your device!

Subway Library

Subway Reads, is an initiative between The New York Public Library, Brooklyn Public Library, and Queens Library, the MTA, and Transit Wireless that provides subway riders in New York City with free access to hundreds of e-books, excerpts, and short stories—all ready to read on the train.
