Everyone agrees that summer reading is important for kids – and we want to make it a bit more fun! Our Summer Reading Program encourages reading and also helps children learn about saving money.
Kids in grades K-5 can participate by following these easy steps:
Read 10 books this summer
Print out the Summer Reading Form
Write down the names of the books read on the form
Take the form to the nearest TD Bank
Receive $10 in a new or existing TD Simple Savings account
The Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is here to help you on your way, encouraging you to read books of your own choosing and earn a FREE book, simply by following these three easy steps:
1. Read any eight books this summer and record them in your Summer Reading Journal (English or Español). Tell us which part of the book is your favorite, and why.
2. Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 16th and September 5th, 2017.
3. Choose your FREE reading adventure from the book list featured on the back of the journal.

How do I get a library card?
There are two ways.
Fill out a My Library NYC application, have it signed by an adult if you are under 13, and bring it to any Brooklyn Public Library. You must get this application in the BNS/BCS Library, so get here ASAP! This card erases your overdue fines and lets you keep books for as long as you need. No overdue fees!
You can also get an application for a regular library card at any branch, at any time, although this card doesn’t have all the perks!
How can I use the Brooklyn Public Library over the summer?
Use your library card to take out books from any Brooklyn branch.
Reserve books that aren’t available at your branch. You will receive an email when they arrive at your branch. You go pick them up.
